When I took a summer job at the beach, I never expected anything beyond a paycheck from it – and maybe a few new friends.

I was okay with that.

Now, I can only be amazed at the turn of events.

My first day at the ice cream parlor, he walked in. All golden curls, sunkissed skin, bright blue eyes, and a smile that still makes me weak at the knees.

He pulls me out of my thoughts, breaking away from me long enough to draw a heart in the sand before standing up again.

“I love you, too.” I smile.
