For some reason, she’s had a fascination with butterflies as long as I’ve known her. She even has one tattooed just above her hip.

I plan to use her fondness for them to my advantage.

Dolly Parton’s “Love Is like a Butterfly” is her favorite song, and it’s playing softly in the background as I hand her the lantern with the “captured” butterfly.

Her eyes are wide as she opens it, pulling out the ring nestled under the wings.

I take her hand. “Bella, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

Her tearful nod sends me soaring.
