“C’mon, show me!” Jasper whines.
Biting my lip, I shake my head, my hold on the necklace tightening.
He pouts. “Please? I want to see what Alice sent you for your birthday.”
Several minutes pass with Jasper pleading, coercing, even resorting to tickling me to make me comply. In the end, he wins – of course. I open my palm to show the single head of wheat encased in resin.
Jasper looks at me questioningly, and I blush.
“Alice made it,” I mumble, my eyes flickering over his face. “Because it reminds me of you.”
I reach out, touching his hair.
