A ripping sound, followed shortly by cursing, reaches my ears, and I look up.
 
“No, no, no! Why? Why must you hate on me today, Murphy?”
 
I can’t help but chuckle at her words as she scurries, trying to catch the papers flying everywhere.
 
Rushing to her aid, I begin to pick up the scattered mess.
 
Some of them have landed in a puddle. I carefully lift them, holding them out to her apologetically.
 
“Here you are.”
 
She sighs, giving me a small smile. “Thanks.”
 
Her eyes question me.
 
“I’m Jasper, by the way.”
 
“Alice.”
 
I take her offered hand.
