Over the Years

A/N: Happy birthday, Ingenuefic! Once, you asked me if I’d ever write a HEA for Edward and Bella. You didn’t think me capable. Well, for your birthday I decided to try to prove you wrong 😉 I hope you’ll enjoy these drabbles, and that you have a great day today.
Thanks to SorceressCirce for the prompts and the beta’ing.

As ever, it is Twilight that owns me, not the other way around.
ooOoo

“I’m gonna miss you,” she murmurs, hugging me tightly from behind.

I smile, turning my head to look at her. “I’ll miss you, too, B. It’s weird, isn’t it? That we won’t be going to the same school anymore? No hanging out every day at the diner doing homework.”

She sighs, tightening her arms, and groans, “Don’t remind me. It won’t be the same without my best friend.”

She stands up.

I grin at her. “Oh yeah? Should I be jealous?”

She blushes, stammering, “Oh shut up!”

My train arrives.

Getting to my feet, I pull her into a hug.

I’ve known for years that I’m in love with her, but I’ve always been too afraid she might reject me.

We grew up together, attached to the hip since kindergarten.

Until now.

I miss her more than I could ever say.

I haven’t told her how I feel, but we’ve fooled around. Experimenting’s safe, right?

Somewhere along the line, it stopped being that for me.

Never in my life would I have thought she felt the same.

Until I open her latest e-mail. The attachment is a picture she says she had Jasper take for her.

I sit back, stunned.

She’s finally mine!

I lift her up, twirling us in a circle.

She squeals and leans down to kiss me, laughing.

I don’t care that everyone’s watching. I want them to see.

I want them to know that Bella is mine – forever. That she is my joy. My happiness. My future.

“I love you, Mr. Cullen,” she murmurs against my lips.

I grin. “More than life, Mrs. Cullen.”

My arms tighten around her possessively.

She whimpers, kissing me again.

“Alright, you two. Get a room!” Emmett’s voice booms.

Putting my wife – my wife! – on her feet, I glower at him.

“Emily Rose! Time to eat, Princess!”

Bella continues getting food out of the cooler, calling again, “Emily Rose!”

Shaking my head, I kiss her cheek. “I’ll get her, baby.”

Bella smacks my ass as I turn around, feigning innocence when I glance back.

I mouth, “Promises, promises.”

She giggles.

Rolling my eyes, I can’t fight my grin.

I find Emily in her favorite spot in the meadow.

Kneeling in front of her, I smile. “What’re you doing, baby girl? Mommy’s called you twice now.”

She looks up, holding flowers in her hand.

“Look it I got Mommy!”

“She’ll love them.”

She sighs softly. It’s been a long day of celebration, and we’re taking a much-needed breather.

“Can you believe it’s really been that long?” she murmurs.

“Mmm, fifty years, and you’re still as beautiful as ever.”

She slaps me lightly, scolding, “Am not. I’m all wrinkly… and so are you.”

Leaning over, I blow a soft raspberry on her cheek before kissing it.

“You’re beautiful to me, B. Always have been, always will be. Those wrinkles are signs of a life well-lived. A life of love.”

She laughs. “Ever the charmer…”

Kissing her again, I say, “The luckiest charmer alive…”
